The 5 mistakes we make in Friday prayers

The 5 Mistakes We Make in Jumu'ah Prayers Jumu'ah prayers are very important for every Muslim. One of the acts of worship in Islam is Friday. On this day, there is also a command for additional thawab for other acts of worship. Therefore, it is important to observe this day in accordance with Islamic rules.

In the Friday prayers

Friday prayers are an important act of worship. Almost all of us perform Jumu'ah prayers. But we make some mistakes during these prayers. Today I will talk about 5 mistakes made in Friday prayers.

1. Not being clean

You must take a bath before going to the Jumu'ah prayers. Many people are so busy on this day that they go away after performing 2 rak'ats of the obligatory Jumu'ah duty like other days, which is narrated from Amr Ibn Sulaim Ansari (R), he said,

Narrated Abu Sa'id Khudri: I testify that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: It is obligatory for every adult to take a bath on the day of Jumu'ah. And will do miswak and use it when perfume is found. [1]

The hadith clearly states that one should take a bath and do miswak and use perfume if one can afford it.

Since it is the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) so each of us should go to the mosque wearing good and clean clothes. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) himself used to wear good and clean clothes on this day.

2. Being late to the mosque

Friday prayers is not just a name for performing 2 rak'ats of prayers. The Friday prayers are to be performed by listening to the khutbah and other ancillary activities. But if you just pray 2 rak'ats and think of yourself as a Friday prayer, then there is a problem. As narrated from Abu Huraira,

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said,

The person who takes a bath like the Janabat bath on Friday and comes for Salat is like sacrificing a camel. The person who arrives in the second stage is like sacrificing a cow. The one who arrives in the third stage is as if he is sacrificing a horned dumba. The one who arrived in the fourth stage was like sacrificing a chicken. The one who arrived in the fifth stage was like sacrificing an egg. Later, when the Imam goes out to deliver the khutbah, the Malaika (angels) appear to listen to the Zikr. [2]

Therefore, it is important to prepare in advance for the Friday prayers. Then it is possible to perform the prayers on time, otherwise it will be seen that the prayers will be missed or the sermon will be missed. And delaying in this way will also create a bad habit.

3. Doing other work during Friday prayers

Doing other things during Jumu'ah prayers is forbidden. It is important to go to the mosque as soon as possible. Business or other activities should be stopped or prayers should be stopped as soon as the first call to prayer is heard. Narrated Yahya Ibn Saeed:

He asked us (Rah.) About bathing on the day of Jumu’ah. Amrah (R.H.) said, ‘Aishah (R.H.) said that people used to do their own work. When they went for Jumu'ah in the afternoon, he would leave in that state. So they were told, if you take a bath. [3]

4. Not listening to the sermon properly

It has already been said that listening to the sermon is an important part of the Friday prayers. It is also important to listen to the sermon properly. Those who do not listen to the sermon properly are completely deprived of the reward of Friday prayers. Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:

The person who comes to the Jumu'ah prayer after performing the ablution properly, listens to the khutbah silently and attentively, is forgiven for the next Jumu'ah and for an additional three days. And the person who touched the gravel (unnecessarily) did useless, void, hateful and reprehensible deeds. [4]

It is important to listen carefully to both Arabic and Bengali sermons.

5. Speaking during the sermon

It is obligatory to listen to the sermon. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade speaking during the sermon. Narrated Abu Hurairah: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:

On the day of Jumu'ah, when the worshiper next to you is told to be quiet while the Imam is giving the sermon, then you have said a nonsense. [5]

It is easily understood from the above hadith that if anyone speaks during the sermon, he should not be asked to stop. This means that the mouth should be kept completely closed during the sermon. This problem is mainly among those of us who are young. So it is important for each of us to be careful about this.

Last word

It is important to be careful in performing every act of worship in Islam. Because if Allah Ta'ala is not satisfied with the worship done with so much effort, then it is useless to bring sixteen in your life.
